Don't sweat the technique!!

Travis Charest- probably one of the most popular artists out there, who to my knowledge isn't doing anything right now but covers for Capt. America and Star Wars. I saw his new sketch book and didn't pick it up, I don't know why I was too busy checking out this star wars piece he was doing. I mean I was really studying....his tools (what he uses, he had his supply box right next to him), his technique, just everything. Asked a couple of questions here and there but mostly watched and learned. You'd think I was this little spy snatching secret information the way I was watching. From what he was doing he was thining and thickening lines omn the characters---not really using alot of spotted blacks. He's got a very European look as far as his technique and layout. He alos lets the color do alot of the work in some areas. Maybe I'll try that and see what happens. I just wish he was faster and could put out more work. Before you start slamming me, he said it himself, that's why he left Wildstorm. It didn't feel right to work on 1 book for a year. He's still popular enough to do it though.
I think that's one thing I want to stay away from, getting too deep into projects that are gonna take away from what I want to do. I hope I can spit them out with some kind of regular schedule. I 'll be posting some character design and pages next week from one of the TRAINWRCKT stories. This week I 'd like to reflect on the show so you get a good idea where my head was at.
