Yes, I'm back....not exactly 100%rested but close enough. I did head back from the show early, like Sat. afternoon early---instead of staying through Sunday. There were different reasons that I wanted to leave early though. I'll explain during posts throughout the week. What i will tell you now are things leading up to the my departure from AZ. to San Diego.
It was a race to the finish to see how many pieces I could knock down before I left. I think the count was 14 out of 20. Not bad. The bad thing is that on some of the jobs I got stiffed on......that never happens. Needless to say I was pissed. The first job, was the client didn't think it was rich enough. Now pictures of my pieces don't really give them justice (it was the Kuba Kuba piece from last post). Needless to say he opted for two other artists. A friend pointed out that I wasn't so mad about the money, more so that I got beat. This is probably true. The upside is that the guy really didn't know art and what would match his place, so I'll assume I'll be seeing him again. Honestly though some other clients of mine saw the piece and were floored with it when they came to pick up they're other piece (Banderas piece in last post).So there is some potential. The second job I got stiffed on........lets just say I.........I'm gonna redo these with a different layout. I wasn't happy with the converasation, but its what you gotta do in business. Some clients know what they want and sometimes they don't.They have a hard time explaining it, so you have to do a practice run to get it out of them. Needless to say that is time and money spent on my part. In case you haven't figured it out I don't like wasting either. So here are some new pieces that are gonna be adjusted but will also be turned into my office for approval. Hope ya'll dig.
