So here's the deal......don't ever expect anyone NOT to try and come up from behind you and take your spot. Expect that stuff like you breathe. Take it in and realize it. I've been sitting here backed away from the table and taking a look at the busines that are my paintings, my gallery, my house, and my car. Luck is a son-of-bitch. Sometimes you got so much that its almost impossible to fail. Other times you get dished out a whopper of bad luck that everything seems like its against you. That's why you gotta take those steps back, to look at the table as a whole and then pick your battles.
Take a look at the table and don't reflect on the whole, cause then you'll just lose yourself i the fact that its too much. Take a look at it and then take it down like you were cutting something up. PIECE-BY-PIECE. If I take down something I don't do it in one fail swoop, I pick it apart piece by piece. This is no different. Cut your losses where you can, sometimes it takes the unexpected to win something. Example if someone expects me to keep bumping my head to get what I want, let it go and let them think they've won. Then come from another angle to win. Its what you do or don't do that keeps them guessing. Cut your losses, then look at what else is left on the table. I can cut my losses with things on this table, I can even still keep my position (backed up) and figure out my next move.
There might be people willing and gutsy enough to try and take your position in something. Keep'em guessing. Do what they expect and what they don't. If you have to lay low, lay low. Wiat for an opening, a good one, then make your move. Till then, own it don't let it own you.
